Further Readings

Basic Physics: A Self-Teaching Guide by Karl F. Kuhn
This is a good book for self-learners, with lots of questions and
problems. You don't have to know a lot of math, this book keeps the
math optional.

Fear of Physics: A Guide for the Perplexed by Lawrence M. Krauss
The author taught "Physics for Poets" at Yale. This is a good fun
nonmathematical introduction to modern theoretical physics, including
scaling laws and gauge theories.

The Cartoon Guide to Physics by Larry Gonick, Art Huffman
(Contributor)
As the jacket copy says, "If you think a negative charge is something
that shows up on your credit-card bill--if you imagine that Ohm's law
dictates how long to meditate--if you believe that Newtonian mechanics
will fix your car," here's the book for you.

Physics Made Simple by Ira M. Freeman, William J. Durden
First published in 1954, this approach to physics is a welcome relief
from the standard intimidating textbooks. It features timely and
engaging examples and common applications of theories, historical
anecdotes of significant discoveries, and clear and contemporary
graphics.

Five Equations That Changed the World: The Power and Poetry of
Mathematics by Michael Guillen
As a regular contributor to daytime's most popular morning news show
and an instructor at Harvard University, Dr. Michael Guillen unravels
the equations that have led to the inventions and events that
characterize the modern world. The stories behind Five Equations That
Changed the World are not only chronicles of science, but also
gripping dramas of jealousy, fame, war, and discovery.

The Cassell Dictionary of Physics by Percy Harrison
This book will help you convert pounds to Newtons, so that your
Martian orbiter won't go off course and wind up lost in space. A handy
little reference to basic physics units, constants, nomenclature and
math.

How to Solve Physics Problems by Robert M. Oman, Daniel M. Oman
(Contributor)
This book provides the foundation and background necessary to master
introductory physics by solving key problems to demonstrate basic
concepts and to provide practice in problem solving.
