thank you guys for typing in english.
first, i wasn't angry at all. i just wanted to say it's better for us to
stick to the truth and make efforts to improve the situation than just to sit
in front of a computer and type and argue and finally find your entire
arguement is based on an illusion.
frankly speaking, sjtu's been heading south for a long time.
academic performance is the foundation on which an academic organization
builds its upper architecture. look at the elite schools in u.s.a. and
everyone draws the conclusion without any doubt.
it should be a miracle if sjtu manages to maintain its reputation and applicant
pool while its performance, by at least one means, does not stop declining. i
think the administrators should be able to answer this question: what is
sjtu's core competence today?
anyone unfamiliar with corporation strategy? i think sjtuers are all well
versed in these stuffs cuz Only bookstore is full of Porter's books on
competetive strategy. at least it was until i left china.
the administrators should ask themselves, "are there any fields where sjtu
outperforms most of its competitors?" "are there any fields where sjtu is
the best or the second best?"
furthermore, they should ask, "are the fields being strengthened or weakened,
are expanding or shrinking?" for example, freshmen quality is a field where
sjtu arguably exceeds. but this cannot always be true if other fields are
underperforming. quality students are seeking a quality education where they
can, if they wish, have access to top-notch advisement from knowledgeable and
insightful professors. nobody can deceive a nation for generations.
i can't imagine leading scholars are poor in publication of their original
ideas. sjtu's faculty are not bad speakers i think but they're speachless, no
matter in the academic circle or in the business world.
the above comments are not directed at any individual. actually there're wise
and kind professors in our school. i respect them. however, as a whole...
